SICK DAY ADVICE

Things you should know.

A sick day is any day in which you may be:

  • Dehydrated

  • Fighting a bad infection

  • Experiencing a blood pressure which is exponentially low for you

Symptoms of a sick day would normally include at least two of the following:

  • Fevers

  • Sweats

  • Chills

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Dizziness

  • Low blood pressure on your home BP monitor

On a sick day, you should avoid taking the following medications:

  • Renin blockers (DRI)

  • ACE inhibitors

  • Angiotensin blockers (ARB)

  • Spironolactone

On normal days, it is very important that you take these medications as prescribed to get the best long-term effect from them. If you have three or more sick days in a row, your doctor may want to check your blood to make sure everything is okay.
