SICK DAY ADVICE
Things you should know.
A sick day is any day in which you may be:
-
Dehydrated
-
Fighting a bad infection
-
Experiencing a blood pressure which is exponentially low for you
Symptoms of a sick day would normally include at least two of the following:
-
Fevers
-
Sweats
-
Chills
-
Vomiting
-
Diarrhea
-
Dizziness
-
Low blood pressure on your home BP monitor
On a sick day, you should avoid taking the following medications:
-
Renin blockers (DRI)
-
ACE inhibitors
-
Angiotensin blockers (ARB)
-
Spironolactone
On normal days, it is very important that you take these medications as prescribed to get the best long-term effect from them. If you have three or more sick days in a row, your doctor may want to check your blood to make sure everything is okay.
